Ruth Mongenas Hoffman, 95, of Edgewood, KY, passed away on November 17, 2019 at Madonna Manor in Villa Hills, KY. Ruth was former owner/operator of Merry Gifters in Erlanger, KY between 1970-1976, but primary focus was being a homemaker for her family. Known as the “cookie lady” at St. Pius X Cafeteria, Ruth loved spending time with children. She volunteered at Booth Hospital in the 1960’s and used to volunteer at St. Elizabeth Hospital. Ruth also was a member of the Tri-City Seniors Group, the Mary Queen of Heaven Seniors Group, and she volunteered at the Diocesan Catholic Children’s Home. She was preceded in death by the love of her life, Harold Hoffman; her siblings, Vernon Mongenas and Betty Mozea. Ruth is survived by her daughter, Donna Hoffman; and her brother, Raymond (Kathy) Hoffman; her sister-in-law, Emily Mongenas; her numerous nieces, nephews, grand-nieces, and grand-nephews; and her dear friends, Phyllis Jean Beck and Linda and Ron Christensen. Ruth was loved and cared for by the Beck and Christensen families, who will miss her dearly. Visitation will be on Friday November 22, 2019 from 5:00PM-6:30PM at St. Pius X Church in Edgewood. Mass of Christian Burial will follow the visitation at 6:30PM at the church. She will be entombed at Evergreen Cemetery in Southgate, KY.
