Funeral services were held Monday afternoon in the Glant Funeral Chapel for Ora S. Ellis, who died Saturday in the Myers Nursing Home at the age of 90 years. Officiating in the services was Rev. Elwood Walker, pastor of Grace Evangelical United Brethren church, of which Mr. Ellis had been an active member all his adult life. Burial was in the Bremen cemetery.
Born January 29, 1875, Mr. Ellis had been a resident of this community his entire life time and was a farmer in the Muncie neighborhood south of Bremen. He was married Mar 8, 1900, to Jennie E. Lehr, who survives him. Also surviving are five sons, Edgar of Burbank, California; Charles and Clyde, both of Bremen; Chester of Russiaville, Ind.; and Virgil of Allentown, Wisconsin; one daughter, Mrs. Daniel Gettinger of Greely, Colorado; 16 grandchildren; and 37 great grandchildren.
As a young man, Mr. Ellis was active in church affairs and soon became interested in local and county Sunday school association work. During the period of the first World War, he was elected president of the Marshall County Sunday School Association and served in that and other positions of leadership in organized Sunday school work for many years.
