Captain Johann "Michael" Motz was born August 4, 1745. The son of Johann Heinrich (Henry) Motz and Maria Barbara Naesz. He died September 7, 1830. He moved from Brickerville, Warwick Twp, Lancaster Co. to Northumberland County near Middleburg now Union County, with brother John . Michael served as Captain of the 3rd Battalion 8th Company, Col. Peter Hosterman, Northumberland County Militia in 1778.
