Clifford “Slugg” Kanae Young

Clifford 76, passed away peacefully on October 20, 2019 surrounded by his family in Highland, Utah. Born in Honolulu.

Cliff "Slugg" graduated from Kaimuki High School and the University of Hawaii. Though he lived on the mainland for 48 years (47 in California), Hawaii remained ever close to his heart.

Cliff possessed a wonderful sense of humor that put everyone around him at ease and endeared him to all who knew him. His love for his family was seconded only by his lifelong passion for football: played for UH and unfailingly watched every college game.

He developed a love for travel later in life and had the patience and wit that only a beloved father of five daughters possesses.

He was a man of integrity, warmth, and kindness who was much loved and will be deeply missed.

He is survived by his wife and sweetheart of 54 years, Deidre Inouye Young; their five daughters: Jenine (Edward) Morris, Jana (Dennis) Peery, Jodi (Frank) Mamone, Jacquelyn (Takuya) Hirano, and Jennifer (Jonas) Otsuji; their 15 grandchildren; and his sister Shirley Ann Young.

He was predeceased by his parents, Walter and Shirley (Kutara) Young and brother, Walter.

A Memorial Service will be held at Hawaiian Memorial Park on June 19, 2020.
