Betty Lee Christensen, 94 passed away November 14th with her two children and husband at her side. She was born July 31st, 1925 in Chappell Nebraska to her parents Charles and Edna Munson. She grew up on a farm in Western Nebraska, the fourth of five siblings. Mom was part of the Greatest Generation, living through the Depression, World War Two and all the challenges brought by those events. She was devoted to Family. Always there for us and ready to do whatever she could to give us a loving spiritually filled home.

In 1944, Mom married her high school sweetheart, Chris Darwin Christensen. Dar had joined the War effort in 1943 and entered Flight Training to become a Navy pilot. Mom and Dad were stationed in many Navy training bases including Iowa, Colorado, Texas and Florida, where Dad served as a Pilot Instructor during the War. After discharge from the Navy after the War, they moved back to Nebraska. They settled in Bridgeport, also located in Western Nebraska, where Dar began working for the State of Nebraska. While in Bridgeport she raised two children and maintained a wonderful home. In 1963, Dar obtained new employment with the Federal Geological Survey. The job would take the family to Eureka California for two years before transferring to Visalia in 1965 where they have lived since.

Mom continued to provide us with a wonderful spiritual home and we are forever grateful for her unconditional love and great example she has set. Children were dear to her heart and she would volunteer to be Gramma to Pre-school classes and at church. She loved her grandchildren and served as on call babysitter to all of them. Mom had many talents and endeavors that she excelled in, including being a crafty card player. She was an excellent seamstress and made many dresses and clothing for her granddaughters. There are also multiple shawls, blankets and quilts out there that she produced for her children and grandchildren. Mom was a family historian, extraordinaire, who researched our family tree by visiting courthouses and cemeteries around the country. She learned to use a computer and used Genealogy software to digitally store her research. Mom also wrote numerous stories of our ancestors and saved them on her computer using word processing software. Another gift she has given us.

Betty was preceded in passing by her daughter Christine, parents Charles and Edna Munson, her brothers Dale Munson and Wayne Munson and her sister Lois Christensen. She is survived by her husband Chris Darwin Christensen, son Curtis Christensen and wife Mary, daughter Susan Chase and husband Dan and her brother Lanny Munson. She is also survived by six grandchildren, ten great grandchildren and one great-great grandchild as well as many nieces and nephews.

A Memorial Service will be held 9AM, Thursday, November 21st, at Salser & Dillard Funeral Chapel in Visalia.
