Carl D. Lewis, age 85, of Wauseon, formerly of Toledo, passed away peacefully Friday, November 15, 2019 at home with loving family by his side. He was born on March 20, 1934 to Normal and Hazel (Hester) Lewis in Toledo. Carl worked at Paramount Printing for 40 years before retiring. He enjoyed bowling, even bowling a 300 game once. Carl was an avid photographer winning several awards for his photographs. He and Paul Sandberg often would take day trips photographing nature and other subjects. Carl was a member of the Toledo Camera Club and also St. Luke’s Laryngectomy Club. With the Laryngectomy Club he helped other laryngectomy patients adjust to their new normal. Carl loved woodworking. This was evident in the beautiful gifts he made for others. His smile, sense of humor and wit will be truly missed by all who knew and loved him.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by 2 brothers and 2 sisters. Carl is survived by his loving wife of 63 years, Phyllis Lewis; daughters, Lynn Deffendall and Susan (Paul) Ganzel; grandchildren, Luke (Robin), Jacob, Zachary, Travis; great-grandchildren, Nick, Logan, Elayna and Noah; and many nieces and nephews.

The family will receive guests on Wednesday, November 20, 2019 from 2:00 p.m. – 8:00 p.m. at Newcomer – Southwest Chapel, 4752 Heatherdowns Blvd., Toledo (419-381-1900).
