Chris was born Aug. 3, 1965, in Lafayette, Indiana, and relocated to Carbondale upon his father accepting a Professor of Forestry position at SIU-C in 1973. He attended CCHS & was a graduate of SIU Carbondale, the College of Communications and Fine Arts.
Chris was the Los Angeles Deputy Bureau Chief for CBS. He was passionate and excelled at breaking news and worked at a variety of news organizations, earning multiple awards along the way.
Survivors include one daughter, of Indianapolis, Indiana; brother, C and wife, L Myers, of Carthage, New York; one nephew, of Seattle, Washington; brother, M and wife, G W. Myers of Wildwood, Missouri; two nieces, Lauren and Lola of Missouri; and his dear friends that he'd known since grade school, Mike, Scott, Tim, and Greg . Chris lived with his partner, Annie, and her daughter at the time of his death.
His mother, Joyce, and his father, Dr. Charles Myers, of Carbondale, preceded Chris in death.
A memorial will be at 2:30 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 23, at Campus Lake with a celebration of life following at 4 p.m. at Pinch Penny Pub, both in Carbondale, and all are invited to celebrate the life of Chris at that time.
