Hugh Franklin Lane, age 79, of Atlanta, Ga., died November 7, 2014 of natural causes. Born November 12, 1934 to Lois Martin and Remer Young Lane, he is survived by son Hugh F. Lane, Jr. and Liz Portwood (Randy), grandchildren Pearce Lane, Henry, Anne Louise, and Elizabeth Portwood, of Atlanta; sister Vivian Davis, nephew Edwin Davis, Jr., niece Elaine Williams, great nieces and a nephew in Millen, Ga. Born in Millen, he graduated from his beloved Georgia Tech, where he managed the ATO house for four years. He was a vice president of C&S bank, and was later self-employed. An athlete and an animal lover, he had a great talent for story telling and a winsome personality. Many thanks to his friends at Lutheran Towers and at Nurse Care of Buckhead, who cared for him as he entered eternal rest with his Savior. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the Georgia Tech Foundation, 190 North Avenue, Atlanta 30313. A memorial service will be held in Millen at the Millen United Methodist Church on November 29 at 2:00, with visitation at 1:00.
