Jerry William Meyer was born July 15, 1940 in Holstein, NE to William Edward and Jesse Belle (Koch) Meyer. He was raised in rural Blue Hill area and was a 1958 graduate of Blue Hill High School. He attended Ventura Junior College in Ventura, CA and Central Community College in Hastings. On July 10, 1960, Jerry was united in marriage to Patricia Roberts at the United Methodist Church in Blue Hill. Jerry proudly served in the U.S. Navy from 1958 until his honorable discharge in 1962.
He was employed as a police officer for several years in Oxnard, CA. After returning to Blue Hill, NE he served as assistant manager of the Blue Hill Coop and custodian of Blue Hill High School. He spent several years in transportation services. Jerry enjoyed woodworking, horses, reading, playing cards and a big bowl of ice cream.
Left to cherish his memory are his wife, Patricia Meyer of Gibbon; children, Allisa Nichols of Wichita, KS, Mia Hyde of Gibbon, Kurt (Christy) Meyer of Bennington; grandchildren, Jacob and Jesse Nichols, Michelle Morris, Jack, Olivia, Maddison, Adam and Konner Hyde; Cayci and Cayla Sorensen and Karli Meyer; brother, John (Connie) Meyer of Blue Hill; several nieces, nephews and extended family and friends.
Jerry was preceded in death by his parents; and his sister, LaDonna Holsten.
