Growing up in Weymouth, Dan was the son of the late William Shaw and Louise (Shaw) Donovan. He attended Weymouth High School and then attended Curry College in Milton. Dan graduated from Curry College in 1974 when he then started his career as a professional football player with the New England Patriots, and from there moved to Canada where he played for the Toronto Argonauts and the Calgary stampeders. The remainder of his career he was a Home Builder for Schofield Properties and then for Design Housing. Dan enjoyed family vacations to Fort Myers Beach, FL; watching football, particularly the New England Patriots, and spending time with friends at the Upland Sportsman’s Club where he was a long-time member.
Anyone who knew Dan enjoyed his sense of humor. He had knack for always telling a good joke and sharing stories and memories of his past. He had an unprecedented work ethic and always gave 110% to whatever he was doing in life. He loved performing – on the field or singing and dancing (particularly to Frank Sinatra). He will be missed by his family and friends.
