Jack graduated from Hebron High School with the class of 1955. He married Bethine Wright in October 1955 at Hebron and later divorced. Jack married Nancy C. Ferron on May 28, 1976, at the Christian Church in Hebron. After 21 years working for the Hebron public schools as maintenance and grounds, Jack retired due to health problems. Jack began working for the City of Hebron in 2000, mowing parks, ball fields and library. In 2018 Jack was pleased to have a Hebron walking trail dedicated in his name. Jack enjoyed hunting with his children, mainly deer. Jack was a member at the First Christian Church, Hebron, since 1948. He served as a deacon, elder, and many years as chairman of the church board; Hebron Masonic Lodge #43 for over 50 years; Sesostris Shrine Club for 43 years and the Hebron Cemetery Board.
Jack is preceded in death by son, Kurt McLaughlin; sister-in-law, Linda McLaughlin; and brother, Terry McLaughlin.
Jack is survived by his wife, Nancy McLaughlin of Fort Scott, Kansas; children, Amy Lohmeier (Tom) of Hebron, Ken McLaughlin of Lincoln, Kevin McLaughlin (Elda) of Florida; Julie Deloney (Matt) of Fort Scott, Kan., and Jeff Ferron (Anne) of Omaha; grandchildren, Sam Lohmeier (Trish) of Beatrice; Tamara Deepe (Trent) of Hebron, Jennifer Lohmeier of Lincoln; Carissa Bowman (Alex) of Fort Scott, Kan., Brady Fink (Emily) of Kansas City, Kan., Alex Fink (Keely) of Fort Scott, Kan., Emma Ferron of Wisconsin; Christian Ferron of Omaha, Logan Ferron of Omaha; Adam Deloney of Colorado; Nick Deloney of Kansas City, Kan., and Sam Deloney of Fort Scott, Kan.; eight great-grandchildren; brothers, Ralph McLaughlin (Judy) of Hebron, Lyle McLaughlin of Hebron, Gary McLaughlin (Rena) of Lincoln; sister, Linda Simonsen of Hebron; and many nieces, nephews and friends.
A memorial service for Jack will be held on Tuesday, November 26, at 10:30 a.m., at the First Community Church in Hebron with Pastor Steven Speichinger officiating.
Inurnment will follow in Rose Hill Cemetery, Hebron.
