Edward N. Garza, 69, of The Villages, Florida passed away Tuesday, November 12, at Leesburg Regional Medical Center.

Ed was born on February 20, 1950, the son of the late Joseph and Margaret (Brown) Garza. He was a graduate of Washington High School in Kansas City, Kansas. On July 22, 1992, he married Alice “Sue” Garza. They have enjoyed a blessed union of 27 years.

Ed was employed at the Proctor and Gamble plant in Kansas City, Kansas as a packaging manager for 31 years. He was a member of the Church Council, an usher, Eucharistic minister, and a member of the Monsignor Ernest J. Fiedler Knights of Columbus¬¬ at the Cathedral of the Immaculate Conception in Kansas City, Missouri. In his retirement years, Ed was a member of St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church in Wildwood, Florida. He enjoyed his ministry as an usher at the noon Mass and welcomed everyone with a smile. Ed also loved playing golf with his buddies two or three times a week and meeting with other neighbors at the local Dunkin’ Donuts on Saturday mornings in Brownwood Square.

Ed is survived by his wife, Sue of The Villages; his daughter Stacey Doyle and husband Aaron of Lee’s Summit, Missouri; his son Luong Lee and wife Carol; and his son Jess Platt, all from Shawnee, Kansas. Grandsons Lance Lee, Alex Doyle, and Nick Doyle. Ed is also survived by his brother Joe Garza and his wife Rolene of Overland Park, Kansas; Robert Garza and his wife Gloria of Fresno California; sisters Maria Campbell and her husband Smoky of Overland Park, Kansas; Maggie Uzelac and her husband Chuck of Cassville, Missouri, and his brother-in-law Richard Ware and Ed’s predeceased sister Mary Jane Ware of Kansas City, Kansas. Ed also had many other extended family members.

Visiting hours are Monday, November 18, from 5 to 7 PM at Beyer’s Funeral Home in Lady Lake, Florida. A prayer service will be held at 6:30 PM. A funeral Mass will be held on Tuesday, November 19, at 10 AM at St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church in Wildwood, Florida. Graveside service will follow at Lone Oak Cemetery in Leesburg, Florida.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to be made to Pancreatic Cancer Action Network, 1500 Rosecrans Ave, Suite 200, Manhattan Beach, CA 90266.
