David H. McDowell, 85 of Springfield passed away Tuesday, November 12, 2019. He was born May 25, 1934 in Alton, Illinois to Paul Robinson and Rosezena Ione Frazier McDowell. He graduated from Washington University with a BS degree. He owned and operated McDowell Consulting Engineering Company. He married Marjorie Ruth Wright on December 31, 1975 with Rev. Richard E. Wright officiating (Marjorie's dad).
David was preceded in death by his parents.
He is survived by his wife, Marjorie McDowell; his children and their spouses, Ruth Purvis (Ed), David L. McDowell (Julie), Stephanie Sayers (David), Rebecca Meagher (Ken), Timothy McDowell (Darla), Philip McDowell (Kristen), Rachel Conner (Scott), and Jonathan McDowell (Saundra); 21 grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren, and four siblings, Stephen McDowell, Daniel McDowell, Lois Cox, and Esther McDowell.
Funeral services will be Monday, November 18, 2019 at 2:00 pm at James River Church, Clark Chapel.
Visitation will be from 12:30 pm until service time Monday at the church.
