MUNCIE -- Jerry Lee McConnell Jr., 54, passed away unexpectedly Thursday, January 6, 2011, at Ball Memorial Hospital.
He was born March 29, 1956, in Muncie, the son of Betty and Jerry Lee McConnell, Sr.
Jerry was a lifelong resident of Albany. He was a mechanic and employed by American Asphalt Company in Muncie. Jerry enjoyed spending time with his children, working on model airplanes and tinkering with anything that had a motor.
Survivors include his fiancee, Vicki Ailes, Muncie; his children, Jasper McConnell, (fiancee-Amber), Muncie; Tara Jones, (husband-Jerome), Muncie; Jeri Brown, Muncie; Chad M. McConnell (his pride and joy), Muncie; and Robert Strouder, (wife-Kendra), Dunkirk; his siblings, Dean McConnell, Jeanne Johnson, Seenna Blackburn, Adrienne May, Dawn Myers and William McConnell; fifteen grandchildren, Merissa, Shauna, Megan, Asiah, Rena, Jamiah, Jasper Jr., Mayson, Landons, Jasmine, Nevaeh, Austin, Phoenix, Ryan and Andrew; five step-children, Jennifer Ailes, Jade Samuels, Danyale Samuels, Devin Samuels and Darrienne Samuels; several aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins.
He was preceded in death by his parents and one stepson, Jacob Ailes.
Services will be held 6:00 p.m. Tuesday, January 11, 2011, at The Meeks Mortuary and Crematory Washington Street Chapel with Shannon McConnell officiating. Cremation will follow.
