Funeral service for Lorene Spain Johnson will be held on Sunday, November 17, 2019, at 2 pm at the First Assembly of God in Milan with burial to follow in the Pisgah Cemetery in Atwood.

Mrs. Johnson grew up in Milan, TN, the youngest and most mischievous of ten children of Rev. Walter and Mary Spain. After graduating as valedictorian of Milan High School in 1943, she attended business school. She worked as an administrative assistant at the Milan Shirt Factory, Milan Arsenal and Farmers Home Administration in Trenton. She faithfully served her family and church her entire life. She taught Sunday School at First Assembly of God in Milan for over 50 years, was a sought-after singer and speaker, and served as the unofficial historian of the church and the Spain family. She impacted all of those around her as a wife, mother, grandmother, and friend. Her mission was her example.

Mrs. Lorene is survived by her son, David Johnson and wife Cathy of Columbus, MS, grandson, Jonathan Johnson and wife Berry of Orlando, FL, granddaughter, Lindy Johnson of Martin, TN, and several nieces and nephews.

She is preceded in death by her husband, James Norris Johnson; parents, Rev. Walter and Mary Spain; brothers, Ray Spain, Wesley Spain, Eddie C. Spain, Dolly Red Spain, and Carthel Spain; sisters, Lillie Mae Spain, Vergie Spain, Frances Morris, and Cora Knott.
