Ruth Ellen Montgomery, 73, Upland, passed away at 11:25 pm on Tuesday, November 12, 2019, at IU Health Ball Memorial Hospital in Muncie, with her family by her side. She was born in Marion on Sunday, May 19, 1946, to Jasper and Donna (Sellers) Woodcock. On June 6, 1964, she married Mike Montgomery, Sr., and he survives.
Ruthe graduated from Mississinewa High School (Class of 1964). She was a devoted wife and mother. Ruthe enjoyed gardening, crafts, cooking, decorating, holidays, family gatherings, and making amazing memories with her family. Her passion for flowers, people, and decorating led her to open her own shop, Country Flowers, in Upland for many years. Ruthe enjoyed talking to people and could spend hours talking about gardening and decorating.
In addition to her loving husband of 55 years, Mike, she is also survived by her son, Mike (Trini) Montgomery, Jr., of Upland; daughter, Dawn (Shawn) Montgomery-Parker of Fort Wayne; two granddaughters, Mellanee (Chad) Montgomery-Neeley of Landess and Karlee (David) Parker-Prokop of Valparaiso; grandson, Korbin Parker of Fort Wayne; great-granddaughter, Emma Neeley; great-grandson, Bryant Neeley; sister, Connie Mathias of Gas City; and brother, Earl Zimri (Doris) Woodcock of Swayzee.
She was preceded in death by her parents.
The family will receive visitors from 10:00 am to 12:00 noon on Saturday, November 16, 2019, at Needham-Storey-Wampner Funeral Service, Storey Chapel, 400 E. Main St., Gas City, IN.
Immediately following the time of visitation, a service to celebrate Ruthe's life will begin at 12:00 noon. Burial will take place at Jefferson Cemetery in Upland, IN.
