Mrs. Dorothy “Dot” Jean (Bates) Roper, age 86 of Cherry Log, GA passed on Monday November 11, 2019 at her residence. She was born February 28th, 1933 to her late parents James Barney and Essie Loujean Rogers Bates in Ellijay, GA. Dot was a member of the Rock Creek Baptist Church since 1949 and worked as a nursing assistant at the Gilmer Nursing Home for many years. She is preceded in death by her husband, Winston B. Roper, sisters, Lillian Bates, Gusty Key and Ruth Hagan, brothers, J.B. Bates and Otis Bates.
Funeral Services will be held at 2:00pm on Wednesday November 13th, 2019 from the Rock Creek Baptist Church with Rev. Tony Gilbert, Rev. Kenny Hagin and Rev. Jeff Hollifield officiating. Music and singing will be by the Rock Creek Baptist Church Choir, Barry Abernathy, and Lowell Davis. Graveside service will follow in the church cemetery with Morgan Tinker, Saylor Tinker, Steve Tinker, Greg Halleck, Mark Hice, Avery Hice, Dennis Evans and Keith Stephens serving as pallbearers.
Dot is survived by her daughters and sons-in-law, Sandi & Larry Davis of Blue Ridge, GA, Holly & Steve Tinker of Ellijay, GA, son, Bryan Roper of Cherry Log, GA, grandchildren, Saylor Tinker, Morgan Tinker and Karen Davis, special niece, Judy Parks, sister-in-law, Patricia Lamanac of Woodstock, GA, several nieces and nephews also survive.
The family will receive friends on Tuesday November 12th, 2019 from 2:00pm-9:00pm at the Logan Funeral Home. Flowers are being accepted or donations may be made to Compassus Hospice at 583 Highland Crossing Ste 120 Ellijay, GA 30540 in memory of Mrs. Roper.
