Gladys Mae Baker
Gladys Mae Baker, 89, of Salisbury, MD, surrounded by many loving family members went to her forever home with Jesus on November 8, 2019. The love of her life and husband for 54 years, the late Carlton Baker, was waiting there to greet her along with many family members and friends.

Gladys was born in Gumboro, DE on July 4, 1930 to her late parents, Harry and Lida Cordrey.

She had a caring heart for others and was an expert at making pies and candy. Being known as “The Pie Lady,” Gladys enjoyed giving her delicious pies and candy to friends and neighbors. Gladys was also involved in her community as a member of Zion Methodist Church and held many jobs during her lifetime. In her earlier years, she loved to watch the Zion Softball Team and especially enjoyed camping with her late husband, Carlton. Later in life, she enjoyed going to Bingo with friends and neighbors.

Gladys is survived by her two children, Janice (Chuck) Baldwin of Salisbury, MD and Richard (Cheryl) Baker of Winchester, VA; 5 grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; 1 great-great-grandchild; siblings, Ruth Conaway of Salisbury, MD, Dorothy (Robert) Carmine of Laurel, DE, Carol (Dick) Moorehead of Laurel, DE, and Shirley Gray of Salisbury, MD; numerous nieces and nephews, and special friend, Diane Powell. In addition to her parents and husband, she is preceded in death by her siblings, Alton Cordrey, Bill Cordrey, Bobby Cordrey, Leon Cordrey, and Bernice Ward.

A Funeral Service will be held on Thursday, November 14, 2019 at 11:00AM at Holloway Funeral Home, 501 Snow Hill Road, Salisbury, MD 21804. Family will receive guests 1-hour prior to the service from 10:00AM-11:00AM. Services will be officiated by Rev. Bob Miller. Interment will take place following at Wicomico Memorial Park.

Memorial Contributions may be made in Gladys’ memory to Zion Church, c/o Becky Pierce, 6824 Mt. Vernon Ave., Salisbury, MD 21804; or Coastal Hospice, PO Box 1733, Salisbury, MD 21802.

The family would like to especially thank Gladys’ caregivers, Diane Powell, Shirley Adkins and Darlene Frisby; and her Coastal Hospice caregivers, Peggy, Erin, and Pastor Joel.
