Mrs. Rice had been a cook at Little House Restaurant for 20 years and even before when it was still Belle's. She was a member of First General Baptist Church of Dexter, Missouri.
She was united in marriage to Truman Rice in Bernie, Missouri on March 2, 1991 at Bernie, Missouri. Mr. Rice preceded his wife in death on January 24, 2013.
Survivors include, Joe Hays of Paragould, Arkansas and Bob Hays of Sturdivant, Missouri; by four daughters, Janie Hays of Bernie, Missouri, Bonnie Barks of Obion, Tennessee, Charlene Kreitler of Arab, Missouri and Lisa Bollinger of Glenallen, Missouri; by one brother, Bill Johnson of Clewiston, Florida; by two sisters, Pearlene Hays of Hornbeak, Tennessee and Beatrice Townley of Pahaska, Oklahoma; by nineteen grandchildren and twenty five Great-Grandchildren; also by other relatives and friends.
She was preceded in death other than by her parents and her husband, by one son, Rayferd Hays; by four brothers, Wilbert Johnson, Albert Johnson, Walter Johnson and Cletus Johnson; by one sister, Freda Cappes.
Friends may call at Rainey-Mathis Funeral Home in Bernie, Missouri on Friday, November 15, 2010 from 11:00 A.M. until 2:00 P.M. Funeral services will then be conducted at 2:00 P.M. in the Rainey-Mathis Funeral Chapel In Bernie With Rev. Randy Shrum officiating. Interment will follow in Bernie Cemetery. Rainey-Mathis Funeral Home of Bernie in charge of all arrangements.
