Brad went to be with the Lord on December 14, 2018 after a two year battle with Alzheimers and the complications that accompany it. He passed away peacefully, at home, surrounded by family and friends.

Brad was born in Brooklyn, New York, on August 26, 1942, to August and Ethel Bachmann. He had two brothers, Bruce and Barry, both of whom have preceded him in death.

Brad enlisted in the Air Force in 1960. He served his beloved country for 25 years and retired in 1985. While serving, he performed many different roles starting as an ambulance driver and medic. He said his favorite job was working in the delivery room caring for newborns. He attended PA School at the University of Nebraska and in 1973 graduated and was commissioned as an Officer. He served as a Physician's Assistant until he retired in 1985.

Brad met his beautiful wife Carmen of 56 years while visiting South Texas with her uncle. They married in July 1963 and began their family of three children, Rebecca, Brian and James. The family moved often, living in many interesting places such as Minot, ND, London, England, and Bitburg, Germany. He retired in 1985 in Plattsburgh, NY, and went to work at Dannemora Prison. After shoveling snow almost year-round the family decided to move back to a warmer climate.

The family settled in Huntsville, TX in 1986 and Brad went to work at the TDC Ellis Unit. He retired after 15 years.

Brad loved learning and was always reading. He encouraged other to read, explore, and learn new things. He was adventurous and liked trying to new things. He jumped out of an airplane four times and drove a NASCAR race car at Richard Petty's Driving Experience. He loved the Yankees and the Astros. He was a avid soccer fan, favoring English Soccer.

But most of all, Brad loved God, his family and life in general.

Brad was preceded in death by his parents, August and Ethel, his brothers, Bruce and Barry, and his son, Brian. He is survived by his wife Carmen, his daughter Rebecca and her husband Lawrence Davis, his son James and his wife Veronica, and daughter-in-law, Donna Bachmann.

He loved and cherished his grandchildren, Nastassja Schmitt and Lawrence Davis, III, Sam and Amanda Bachmann, Colby and Caitlyn Bachmann, and Noah and Henry Bachmann. He is a recent Great-grandpa to Lola Schmitt. He is also survived by a host on in-laws, nieces, nephews and friends.
