Lewis Adolph is buried at Crystal Plains Cemetery near his great-grandfather Anselm Franzmathes. His grave marker reads, Lewis A. Franzmathes, "son of J.W. and G. Franzmathes" Obiturary: "Friday last a little son of Joseph Mathes was accidently burned to death. He was with his brother who was in the field plowing and burning corn stalks. The little fellow was sent to the house, while his brother, after setting fire to some stakes, began plowing. When at the other end of the field he heard the little boy crying in agony, and upon looking around, discovered his clothing in a mass of flames, and having some distance to go the boy was dead before he reached him. This is a sad occurence, and the bereaved family have the sympathy of all." His father was Joseph W. Franzmathes, his mother was Grace Shaffer Franzmathes. Both parents are buried at St. Johns Cemetery, Beloit, Kansas.
