Along with his wife of sixty-five years he is survived by children Regina married to Wilmer Williams, Clearville, PA; Charlene “Cookie” married to David Wharran, Clearville, PA and Sheila “Shelly” Mantia, Everett, PA; six grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren; sisters Marlene Simmons, Clearville, PA and Delores Carrigan married to Norman “Jack”, Clearville, PA.
Mr. Hammond served in the United States Army during the Korean War. He had a love of woodworking and worked as a cabinet maker as well as a bus contractor for the Everett Area School District where he drove for thirty years.
Chuck was a member of the Chaneysville United Methodist Church and attended El Bethel Assembly of God. He was the last surviving charter member of the Chaneysville Volunteer Fire Company; he was fire warden for forty-nine years and Southampton Historical Society as well as a member of the Chaneysville Senior Center, Chapman Run Hunting Club, Everett Area School Bus Association and the Final Lap Race Club. He was an avid Dale Earnhardt racing fan and enjoyed going to and attending craft shows, having been a vendor at the Bedford Fall Foliage for over forty years.
Funeral Service will be held on Thursday, November 14, 2019 at 11:00 A.M. in the Chapel at Akers Funeral Home with Pastor Vincent Smith Officiating.
Friends and family will be received on Wednesday from 2-8 P.M. and on Thursday from 10:00 A.M. until the hour of service at Akers Funeral Home, Inc., 299 Raystown Road, Everett, PA 15537.
Burial will be held at the Chaneysville Cemetery with full military honors by the Everett Area Honor Guard.
