Herrin- Sylvia Elizabeth Ward (Bellett), age 96, formerly of Herrin, passed away at 11:30 pm on Friday, November 8, 2019 at Church Creek Memory Care in Arlington Heights, IL.
Sylvia was born in Herrin on November 21, 1923, the daughter of Deserie and Nell (Metzer) Bellett.
She married Charles Ward in Marion on August 13, 1943. He survives in Arlington Heights.
Sylvia was an incredibly talented person. She was an avid reader, an artist, a seamstress who designed her own clothes and a nurse.
She leaves behind her husband of 76 years, Charles L. Ward. Her daughters Susan (Ward) of Arlington Heights, IL and Phyllis (Marchese) of Palm Springs, California. She had three grandchildren and two great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents.
Funeral services will be held at 11 am on Thursday, November 14, 2019 at Johnson-Hughes Funeral Home in Herrin. Burial will follow at Herrin City Cemetery. A time of visitation will be held from 10-11 am on Thursday, November 14, 2019 at Johnson-Hughes Funeral Home.
