John Edward Barth, 88, of Flanagan, formerly of Minonk and Colfax, died at 10:37 a.m. Friday (July 2, 2004) at the Apostolic Christian Home, Eureka.

Mr Barth was born June 6, 1916, in Minonk, a son of Edward and Elizabeth Timmerman Barth. He married Emma Marie Moritz on Nov. 4, 1939, in Benson. She died May 19, 1979. He later married Norma Turner and then Betty Warsaw, who survives.

He was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers and two sisters.

John farmed all of his life in the Flanagan and Graymont areas. He was instrumental in bringing Kinze planters and auger wagons to this area and took great pride in selling them to local farmers. He also was instrumental in introducing Kan-Sun grain dryers to local farmers.

He was a past member of St. John's Lutheran Church in Flanagan, where he served on the church council and building committee. He also served for several terms on the Flanagan school board.

Memorials may be made to the Apostolic Christian Home of Eureka, the Alzheimer's Association or to a charity of the donor's choice.
