He was born March 26, 1963 in Hutchinson, Kans. to Paul Conner, Jr. and Helen (Taylor) Conner. He was a high school graduate. He served in the Army National Guard of Kansas for 11 years. He was a combat engineer and food service specialist. He received the Army Service Ribbon, Army Reserve Component Achievement Medal, National Defense Service Medal, Army Reserve Componet Training Ribbon, and M16 Rifle Expert Qualification Badge.
He was united in marriage to Nancy Smith on April 1, 2005 in a ceremony in Miami, Okla.
For the past 24 ½ years, he worked for Tyson Foods in Noel, Missouri, with 15 of those years being a Quality Assurance Tech. His favorite hobbies were motorcycle riding, cooking, hunting, and fishing. For the past many years, he helped with the Sparks America Motorcycle Rally, where he made many friends.
He is preceded in death by his father.
Those mourning his loss include his wife, Nancy, of the home; 3 sons, Steven Conner of Parsons, Kans., Josh Conner of Grove, and Nick Conner of the home; 3 siblings, Michael Conner of Hartford, Kans., Lesia Troester of Grove, and Daren Conner, also of Grove; his mother, Helen Taylor Brown of Coffeyville, Kans.; 5 grandchidren; his honorary siblings, Chris and Lauren Johnson of Chetopa, Kans, Curtis Stoelzing and Madison Froelich of Welch, Okla., Randy and Zona White of Springdale, Ark., Randy Gray of Okmulgee, Okla., and Tim and Dee Rickel of Weatherford, Okla.; an aunt, Linda Taylor of Miami, Okla.; an uncle, Ray Taylor of Coffeyville, Kans.; numerous nieces, nephews and cousins, and a host of friends he considered his family.
Family and friends will celebrate Gary's life at 2:00 p.m. August 3, 2019 at the Cherokee Spur Ranch. The presence of motorcycles is encouraged as a final sendoff to Gary.
Flowers, or donations to offset expenses, can be sent to the Funeral Home.
