"John Onan grew up near Taughannock Falls, NY. His father was the superintendent of Taughannock Falls State Park.
Following graduation from the Charles O Dickerson High School in Trumansburg, NY, John married Thelma Newhart on 9/18/1948. They adopted a daughter.
John was a baker and worked for his sister and uncle's Lamb's Bakery in Auburn, NY and then for Rose Bakery in Auburn and regional grocery store chains Tops Friendly Markets and P&C Markets.
He was a member of the Trinity United Methodist Church in Auburn and past trustee as well as past president of the Auburn Bowling Association. He also enjoyed golfing and pitching horse shoes.
John Onan's obituary was published in the 8/13/2006 edition of the Auburn Citizen newspaper."
