Steve's first wife was my mother, Karen Louise (Ely) Robertson. They met at the teen square dance club, Lace & Levi's, that they both belonged to in Phoenix, AZ. They were married on February 5, 1966. They had three children, myself-Louise (Robertson) (Downey) Keir, Wayne Robertson, Katherine (Robertson) Miller.
Square dancing was apart of our lives throughout my whole childhood and into adulthood. In the mid to late 1970's, Steve and Karen were also apart of an exhibition clogging group, Canyon State Cloggers. They performed square dance movements while they were clogging. They performed at square dance festivals, Rawhide Western Town, Pioneer Village, The Louisiana Hayride in Shreveport, Louisiana, and other places. Eventually, Steve started playing guitar for a couple of the square dance bands. He, then went onto country western bands and played at the VFW, Moose, American Legion, and at Reata Pass near Prescott, AZ. Steve and Karen grew apart and they divorced in early 1986.
Steve met his second wife through his job. He married S Jean (Pierce) Robertson in August of 1986. My mother, Karen, passed away from breast cancer June 2, 1999. My father, Steve, passed away from colon cancer August 1, 2017. We set up for whole body donation with Research for Life. https://www.researchforlife.org/. Research for Life then cremated his body and Jean currently has his ashes.
