ABINGDON, Joshua M. Bearce 18, 300 N. Washington died at 9:50 a.m., Wednesday, August 5, 1998, in the emergency room in Southwest Health Care Center, Platteville, Wisconsin.

He was in Platteville, Wisconsin to visit the Chicago Bears training camp at the time of his death.

He was born November 1, 1979, in Galesburg, Illinois, the son of Richard and Sue Curtis Bearce.

Surviving is his parents of Abingdon, one brother Jeremy Bearce, and one sister Stacy DeJaynes both of Abingdon, and his grandparents Ernest and Marceline Curtis of Abingdon, one niece, one nephew, and aunts, uncles, and cousins. He was preceded in death by his paternal grandparents.

He lived in Abingdon all of his life.

He graduated from Abingdon High School in 1998.

He was a scorekeeper for the Abingdon American Legion baseball team and was an honorary manager of the Abingdon high school boys' varsity basketball team.

The Funeral will be at 1:30 p.m. Friday, in Hinchliff-Pearson-West Chapel, Abingdon, with the Rev. Richard Curtis officiating. Visitation will be from noon to 1:30 p.m. Friday at the funeral home. Burial will be in the Abingdon cemetery.
