He was the son of the late Barney W. Dixon, Sr. and Evie Parnell Dixon. He worked for Hermitage Cotton Mill and DeRoyal Textiles for 53 years, retiring as a supervisor. He served 6 years in the Army National Guard as a machinist.
He is survived by his daughters, Dawn (Don) Watkins, Angie (Derek) Gillis; and son, David (April) Dixon. Also, seven grandchildren, Karlie and Samantha Watkins, Duncan, Adalae, and Dutch Gillis, and Taylor and Addison Dixon. He is also survived by his sister, Helen Threatt; brother and sister-in-law, Kenny and Joey Baker. He is predeceased by his wife of 54 years, Gail Dixon; six sisters and a brother.
He was a faithful employee and always enjoyed his time at the mill. After retirement, he enjoyed working in his yard, playing with his dog, “Coco”, and spending time with his wife. He could be seen many mornings at “The Pantry” getting coffee and talking to his friends.
