Alma Jean Cunningham Ellison passed away on Sunday, December 19, 1999, at her Midland County residence after a long bout with cancer. A celebration of her life will be held on Wednesday, December 22, 1999 at 1 p.m. in The First Church of the Nazarene of Midland, Texas. Burial services will follow in Resthaven Memorial Park Cemetery, Midland, Texas.
She was born in Alva, Oklahoma on January 23, 1933, to Charles Wayne and Mae Walker Cunningham where she attended and graduated from Capron High School in 1950. She married Jack Ellison on March 30, 1952 in Capron, Oklahoma and they lived in Mooreland, Oklahoma, south of Coldwater, Kansas, Cherokee, Oklahoma andlater moved to Bartesville, Oklahoma in 1958. In 1963, the couple moved to Midland, Texas where she later attended Midland College and was a volunteer in the PTA, Midland Association for Retarded Citizens (MARC) and Senior Services. She worked in regulatory oil production reporting with a number of companies including West Texas Oil Reports and Southwest Royalties before retiring in 1995. After retiring she enjoyed camping and traveling and spending the summers as a volunteer at the Nazarence camp in Bonita Park, New Mexico. She was an active member of the Billy Simms Trailer Town Travelers of Odessa, Texas.
She is survived by her husband, Jack Ellert Ellison, Midland, Texas, Nancy Mae Ellison, San Angelo, Texas; three sons, Thomas Wayne Ellison of Midland, Texas, David Earl Ellison of Midland, Texas, Cecil Dean and Kate Ellison of Kuwait; two sisters, Charlene Cunningham Brintnall, Kiowa, Kansas, and Alice Faye James, Chandler, Oklahoma; one brother, John Franklin Cunningham, Midland, Texas and 10 grandchildren.
The family requests that any memorials be made to Midland Hospice. Visitation may be made at the Ellis Funeral Home in Midland, Texas.
