She died peacefully Friday, August 18, 2017 in Houston, Texas.
Elizabeth and her husband, Sidney and their four children moved to Houston from New Orleans, Louisiana, November 1, 1957.
After graduation from Sophie B. Wright High School and Business School in New Orleans, she worked as a secretary for an insurance company.
She was a lifelong Presbyterian who served faithfully as a Sunday School teacher and was active in the work of Presbyterian Women and Church Women United. She was generous in giving of her time and talents to numerous charity and mission groups. She was a charter member of University Presbyterian Church Houston and more recently a member of First Presbyterian Church, Houston and St. Philip Presbyterian Church, Houston.
Elizabeth is preceded in death by her husband of nearly 68 years, Sidney Keene Sr., her sons, Sidney Keene Jr. and Michael Keene, her brother Robert Myers and her sister Myrtle Myers Johnson.
She is survived by her son, Jack Keene, and her daughter, Arlette Keene, three grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews.
A graveside service honoring her 99 years of life and faithful service to her Lord, Jesus Christ will be held at 10 a.m. Tuesday, August 22, 2017 at Forest Park Lawndale Cemetery
