After a lengthy illness, Jo passed away on Wednesday, November 6, 2019 at United Hospital, with Bruce by her side.
Jo was born in Hastings, Minnesota on March 11, 1964, the daughter of Joan (Langenfeld) and James "Jim" Grier. She graduated from Hastings High School and went on to work at Augustana Care Center. She met Bruce Perry and they were married on August 24, 1991 at Guardian Angels Catholic Church in downtown Hastings. She and Bruce loved going up to the lake in Siren, Wisconsin. They enjoyed fishing, swimming, and being together with family and friends. Jo was very organized and always had a clean house. Jo was an excellent cook and would make the famous family "hunter's dish". She was great mother to Jeffrey and a wonderful aunt to all of her nieces and nephews. She was an avid Green Bay Packers fan and took the trip to Lambeau Field many times. In her spare time, Jo loved to go shopping with the gals. Her family meant the world to her and she truly loved taking care of everyone. She will be missed by all who knew her.
She is preceded in death by her father, Jim Grier; her sister, Sue Peterson; brother, John Grier; brother-in-law, Mark Peterson; and her in-laws, Caroline and Buzz Perry.
Jo is survived by her husband of 28 years, Bruce Perry of Hastings; her mom, Joan Grier of Hastings; her son, Jeffrey Perry of Hastings; her stepchildren, Joe (Ashley) Perry of Prescott, WI, Matt Perry of Hastings, and Dan Perry of Hastings; her four grandchildren, Carter Perry, Adrianna Perry, Hudson Perry, and Nash Perry; her siblings, Becky Matsch of Hastings, Scott (Sharon) Grier of Mahtomedi, Jill (Wayne) Brandt of Balston Spa, New York, Brigitte (Jerry) Frandrup of Hastings, and Shannon (Fred) Brandt of Prescott; her dog, Jax and her cat, Chloe; many nieces and nephews, other family and friends.
The funeral service for Jo will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, November 14, 2019 at Starkson Family Life Celebration Chapel, 3075 Vermillion Street in Hastings with Fr. Dave Hennen officiating.
The family cordially invites friends to join for a visitation from 9:00 a.m. until 11:00 a.m. and following the service for a reception, all at the funeral home on Thursday.
