L. D. Jewett, who was born in Windsor County, Vermont, 1808, and spent his life in Vermont, Ohio, Illinois and Kansas, and died at the home of his daughter Mrs. Smith Culler, living four miles west of Colony, April 10, 1898, aged 90 years.
He had lived many years a member of the Baptist church, and died in that faith. His wife preceded him to the better land last November whom he joins on the sunny banks of fair deliverance to bask in the sunlight of Gods eternal happiness throughout the endless ages of eternity. Funeral services were conducted by Rev. H. A. Cook at the home of his daughter Mrs. Smith Culler, followed by interment of his body in the colony cemetery, April 11, '98.
