Steve was born in Clinton on April 4, 1925 to Mearl and Fannie (Provins) Ferguson. Steve was married to Dorothy Rhea, who passed away in 1996.
He is survived by his wife of 15 years, Catherine Baylor Ferguson; four sons, Terry (Katherine), Roger (Tina Fasano), Ronald (Karen) and David, (Jeanette). Steve is also survived by 13 grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren. Steve has four step-children with nine step-grandchildren and 12 step-great-grandchildren.
As a lifelong farmer in the Clinton area, Steve proudly served his community as a past Justice of the Peace of Harp Township. He also served as Harp Township Trustee for at least 30 years. Steve served as a member of the DeWitt County 4-H Fair Board for nearly 40 years. He was an active member of the Board of Directors of the DeWitt County Farm Bureau for many years. Steve also served as a 4-H Club Leader and as a member of the Clinton Board of Education from 1966 to 1970. Steve was a member of the First Christian Church in Clinton and attended the Clinton Methodist Church in Clinton.
Services will be 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at the Clinton United Methodist Church with Pastor Darrell Howard and Rev. C. Don Ferrill officiating. Burial will follow at DeWitt Cemetery, DeWitt. Visitation will be 5 to7 p.m. Monday at Calvert Funeral Home, Clinton.
Memorials may be made to the DeWitt County 4-H Fair Association or the DeWitt County Farm Bureau Foundation for Scholarships.
