78, of Carmel, IN, passed away on March 6, 2015 after a long struggle with Parkinson's and Lewy-body dementia. He was born Sept. 19, 1936 to Florence Delahunty Farris and Reps Farris near Hampshire, TN on his grandparents' farm. He is survived by his loving wife Nancy; son, Tom Farris of Des Moines, IA; daughter, Lori Brink (Steve) of Urbandale, IA; brother, Steve Farris (Trudy) of Douglasville, GA; five grandchildren; and a great-grandson. He was preceded in death by his parents, brother, Reps Farris, Jr., and daughter, Lisa Hitchings. Tom attended Drake University in Des Moines, IA and later received his MBA in banking from the Stonier Graduate School at Rutgers. While at Drake, he was hired by Augustine & Co. and became a CPA. From there he went to work for Wells Fargo banks in Des Moines and met Nancy Nutt who also worked at the same bank. They were married July 29, 1972. Tom retired for the first time from Wells Fargo Bank in Billings, MT where he was president. His second retirement was from KeyBank in Indianapolis. During his years in Iowa, Tom spent 23 years with the National Guard and Army Reserves and retired as a Lt. Colonel. Tom enjoyed pheasant hunting with friends in Iowa, fishing in northern Canada with Nancy s dad, reading WWII history, working at the computer, golfing, and taking river boat cruises in Europe with Nancy. Anyone who met Tom learned quickly that he loved playing with his dog. He strongly believed in volunteering in his community and spent many years chairing the food judging competition at Zoobiliation. He joined the Sertoma Club of Broad Ripple in 2001, received recognition as an outstanding state president, and recently became an honorary member. His specialty at their Las Vegas fundraising parties was running the craps table. Funeral Information A memorial service will be held at 12 p.m. Friday, March 13 in Carmel United Methodist Church. The calling will be at 11:00 prior to the service. The family invites anyone present to join them for a light meal at the church after the service.
