At the age of 10, the family moved to Tucson, Arizona, where he became a member of the Tucson Arizona Boys’ Choir, sang with the Gilbert & Sullivan Opera Company and most frequently in church. Jack was a lifelong Methodist.
He worked with the telephone company before being drafted into the Army. After leaving the Army, Jack attended the University of Arizona earning his degree in teaching; the University of Hawaii where he earned his Master’s; and returned to the University of Arizona where he earned his PhD in teaching.
He taught elementary school for 32 years. Recreationally he refereed youth soccer games up until he was 70 years old.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sister Bernita Johnson.
Survivors include his wife of 21 years, Karen Beth Van Lenten Robinson, of Savannah, Georgia; daughter, Jennifer Kent, of Tucson, Arizona; son, Jeremy Robinson, of San Diego, California; stepdaughter, Daria Miller (Kevin) of Savannah, Georgia; stepson, Joseph Mazar of Orlando, Florida; brother, James Robinson (Yume) of Chandler, Arizona; four grandchildren, three nieces and three nephews.
A celebration of Jack’s life will be held at White Bluff United Methodist conducted by the Reverend Josh Duckworth and the Reverend Thomas E. Keller.
