Rose James, 88, of Gallipolis, Ohio passed away on Wednesday, September 19, 2018 at Holzer Medical Center.
Born on April 28, 1930 in Gallia County, Ohio, Rose was the daughter of the late Sherman and Virgie Halley Layne.
She married Roger L. James, who preceded her in death on July 3, 2017.
Rose was a cook at Bladen Landing, a member of Mercerville Baptist Church, and a life member of the Gallipolis Eastern Star #283 .
Rose is survived by her daughters, Beverly Sue (James) Knight of Crown City and Cheryl Lynn (Mark) Lynch of Point Pleasant, West Virginia; son, Randall F. (Rita) James of Gallipolis; seven grandchildren; several great grandchildren; special friends, Jean and Kermit Fisher; and sister, Betty Harless of Lexington Park, Maryland.
In addition to her husband and parents, Rose was preceded in death by her son, Gregory Lee; brothers, Raymond Layne, Henry Layne, Mack Layne, and Loren Layne; and sister, Helen Halley.
The funeral service for Rose will be at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, September 22, 2018 at Willis Funeral Home with Pastor Alfred Holley officiating. Burial will follow in King’s Chapel Cemetery. Friends may call one hour prior to the service on Saturday, September 22, 2018 from 12:00-1:00 p.m. at the funeral home.
