Winifred Lee Evans, 87, of Shelbyville, passed away on Thursday, November 7, 2019. She was born on January 30, 1932 in Shelbyville to the late George H. and Mary Frances (Wilson) Weinantz.

Lee was a 1950 graduate of Flat Rock High School and worked as a typist at Camp Atterbury. She later relocated to Johnsville, PA where she worked at the Naval Air Station. Upon moving back to her hometown, Lee worked for many years at Major Hospital and with the Shelby County Chapter of the American Red Cross. She was a devoted volunteer for Major Hospital and enjoyed memberships with Kappa Kappa Sigma and Kiwanis. Lee was a longtime member of the First Presbyterian Church where she served as a Deacon, Trustee and Elder. She enjoyed gardening, sewing, and spending time with her family.

Lee is survived by her daughters, Carol (Michael) Haley and Jane (Mark) McCrocklin; grandchildren, Derek Haley, Lauren Fox, and Steven McCrocklin; great-grandchildren, Madison Fox, Carter Fox and Nova Haley. She is also survived by her sister-in-law, Marge Wienantz.

Lee was preceded in death by her parents; loving husband, John Evans; and brother, George ‘Tom’ Wienantz.

Burial will take place in Patterson Cemetery.
