Interment will be Monday at 2:00 p.m. at Carney Cemetery, OK. Strode Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
Ron was born October 26, 1939 in Mt. Pleasant, Texas, the oldest of five children to Bernice Delbert and Marcille Jewel (McNeil) Jordan. He grew up and attended school in East Texas including Pittsburg and Texarkana. The family moved to Little Rock, Arkansas where he graduated from Little Rock Central High School in 1958.
He attended Arkansas Tech University in Russellville, Arkansas and transferred to Oklahoma State University where he majored in Industrial Engineering. He graduated with a Bachelor of Science Degree in 1964.
At Oklahoma State University he met the love of his life, Lareeca Carpenter, and they were married December 22, 1963 in Bennett Chapel at OSU on a winter day with lots of snow. They would have celebrated their 56th wedding anniversary in December.
Following their graduation, they moved to Houston, Texas where he was employed with Cameron Iron Works. He was active in the Houston Junior Chamber of Commerce serving as interclub Director and Vice President.
Their three daughters were born in Houston. Rondi Jene’- 1971, Ricque Janel- 1974, and Rebekah Jareece- 1977.
In 1979 the family moved back to Stillwater where Ron owned United Service Personnel and managed Town Center until retirement.
He was a loving father involved in his daughter’s activities. He traveled many miles with his daughters to dance competitions and the Oklahoma Kids “Will and the Wind” shows. He was the proud grandfather of 10 grandchildren, ages 20 down to six, and he loved attending all activities including school programs, sports events, recitals, dance competitions and shows all over the state, surrounding states and even Granddaughter’s tap dance competition in Germany.
Friends from the Houston Jaycee Days were an important part of his life, and they met every New Year’s in Dallas for a reunion. He loved remembering those good old days where they traveled to National Jaycee conventions.
He enjoyed traveling and in the last few years traveled on the Rhine River and Danube River Cruises. He was a “people person” and made new friends on those trips. They recently enjoyed a bus tour of the New England states when he became ill. He was a very healthy and active person all his life, so the diagnosis and aggressive nature of cancer was a shock to all. He was able to celebrate his 80th birthday October 26th.
Ron is survived by his wife Lareeca. Two daughters, Ricque Reed and husband Lance of Edmond and Rebekah Miller and husband Chance of Laverne. Grandchildren, Kelsey, Conner, and Karley Reed, Haleigh, Hannah, Houston and Holly Bockelman and Madyson, Myah and Maisy Miller.
