Mary Fantroy Skelton, daughter of Louisa and Henry Butler was born March 1, 1875 in Wayne County, Elm river township, where she spent her life near her birthplace.

She confessed her faith in Christ in early life and united with the Christian church at Buckeye.

She was united in marriage with Walton Reed in 1892, to this union two children were born, one son, one daughter, Mrs. Charlotte Farmer, and Armer L. Reed. She was later united in marriage with Jesse Skelton July 13, 1897. To this union three children were born, Larkin, Elmon, and a daughter died in infancy.

She leaves her companion, four children, one step-son, Fred Skelton; one brother Clarence Butler; twelve grandchildren; five great-grandchildren. A step-son, Henry Skelton, preceded her in death. She had been in failing health and passed away at her home in Zif townhship June 1, 1944 at the age of 69 years, three months.

Funeral service was conducted at the Zif Baptist Church with interment in Zif Cemetery.
