Larry had worked at International Harvester in Fort Wayne, Indiana, and then continued his employment at Navistar in Springfield, Ohio, where he retired. He was a graduate of Rockford High School, and a member of the former Rockford United Presbyterian Church. After its closing, he attended New Horizons Community Church in Rockford. Larry was a member of the National Guard, and had lived in the Rockford area all his life. He loved to travel and camp while he was able, and also enjoyed going to antique tractor shows.
Surviving Larry are two children: Jeffery R. Howell of Rockford and Kimberly (Paul) Rapking of Cincinnati; two brothers: Joe Howell of Convoy, Ohio and Tom (Eleanor) Howell of Perrysburg, Ohio; one sister-in-law, Betty Howell of Wapakoneta; and many nieces and nephews. Deceased in addition to his parents and his two wives, is a brother, Ralph Howell.
Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, November 12, 2019, at 3:00 p.m., at Ketcham-Ripley Funeral Home, in Rockford, with Pastor Ken Meyer officiating.
