MRS. RUBY LEE JENKINS was born in Burke County, Georgia on Tuesday, June 27, 1933. Ruby Jenkins was the daughter of both the late Hamp and Emma Smith-Jenkins. In March of 1948 she married
her friend and loving husband, Wash Baker, Sr. From this union, eight children were born. Ruby Baker was a faithful member of Ways Grove Baptist Church in the Stellaville Community of Wrens, GA until she was called home. Ruby departed this life to join her seven siblings in our Father’s Kingdom.
Ruby Baker was a loving woman who had a smile that could warm anyone’s heart. Family and friends can attest that her greatest accomplishments were being a great mother and grandmother. God sent an angel to her bedside on Thursday, October 31, 2019 while she was in the care of her daughter, Bernice Baker-Johnson. He escorted her soul gently and peacefully into His mansion in the sky to forever be with the Lord.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Wash Baker, Sr., a son, Arthur Lee Baker and a granddaughter, La’Vonya Boatwright.
Ruby Baker leaves to cherish her precious and beautiful memories of life: five daughters, Willie Eva Baker-Johnson of Wrens GA, Barbara Baker of Wrens GA, Bernice Baker-Johnson of Wrens GA, Emma Baker of Augusta GA, and Alberta Baker of Wrens GA; two sons, Herman (Helen) Baker of Orlando FL. and Wash, Jr. (Doretha) Baker of North Augusta, SC; thirty grandchildren and fifty-four great-grandchildren; a host of great-great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends.
