Patsy Ruth Murphy age 89, of Purcell passed away Tuesday, Nov. 5, 2019 at Norman Regional Healthplex. She was born April 8, 1930 in Chickasha. Patsy was the youngest of four children born to Clabe Hubert Carter and Olive Josephine (Davidson) Carter. She grew up in Anadarko and graduated with the class of 1947. On July 18, 1950, Patsy married Ewing Gregory Murphy in Wichita Falls, TX. For Nearly 20 years, they made their home in Torrance, CA, before settling in Purcell in 1974. Together they raised 3 daughters, Michelle, Gynean and Monti. Patsy was a hard worker and worked a variety of jobs throughout the years. She worked as a telephone operator for Hughes Aircraft, and worked side by side with Greg at the Wag-a- Bag, which later became Coastal. She then operated a Merle Norman Store for several years, and now in her 70’s, Patsy joined the staff at Dr. Lee’s office, and didn’t retire until she turned 80 years of age. She remained very active in her community. She was a member of the Eastern Star Club, the Gladiolus Garden Club and the Purcell Lady Bridge Club. Patsy was a faithful Christian and longtime member of the Johnson RD Baptist Church where she served as Co-Treasurer for many years. Patsy was a lovely woman; she cherished her family and friends and she will be dearly missed!



She was preceded in death by:

Her daughter, Michelle Armer;

Husband, Greg Murphy;

Brother, Jack Otto Carter and

2 sisters, Gene Orme and Betty Russell.



Patsy is survived by:

Her daughters, Gynean Gentry and Monti Murphy, both of Purcell;

3 grandchildren, Kameron Gentry of Norman, Cassidy Gentry of Lexington

And Courtney Armor of Purcell;

5 great grandchildren and a host of other family and friends.
