Darrell Glynne Anderson was born Dec. 25 1928 on the family farm south of Sisseton to Clarence and Esther (Martenson) Anderson. He attended country school through the 8th grade and high school 1 year and then began working on the family farm. He went south on a combine crew with Orville Helgeson for 1 year, then he and his dad purchased a combine and truck and he travelled south for another three years.
He was drafted into the Army in 1953 and was stationed in Alaska. He was honorably discharged from the Army in 1955. He returned to the farm after and met and married Marlys Oien on March 17, 1956. During the winter months he worked at Fonder's Repair where he learned how to repair engines. After living on a farm near New Effington they moved to town for a few years before eventually settling at the farm place northeast of town. He spent many hours farming, milking cows, and tinkering with engines. After retiring, he restored several old family tractors and pickup trucks. He lived on the farm until moving to Edgewood Assisted Living in January of 2018.
Sharing in the loss of this wonderful man is his brother Maynard Anderson of Sisseton SD, Daughters Robin Shelver (Lynn) of Enderlin, ND, Deb Becker (Larry) of Sisseton, SD, Shelly Finck (David) of Tripp, SD. Grandchildren, Miranda Mackedanz (Jay) of Hutchinson, MN, Mark (Jen and her son Lane), of Watertown, SD, Caleb (fiancé Toni) of Tripp, SD, Cara Finck, (Fiancé Wesley) of Delmont, SD, and Great granddaughters Aubree and Lily Mackedanz of Hutchinson, MN.
He was preceded in death by his parents Clarence and Esther, wife Marlys, a brother Clarence Jr., a sister Shirley, sister in law Marilyn Anderson, and brother in law Ray Oien
