Ida Lewis “Lew” Langston Rose, aged 90, died November 6, 2019 in Goldsboro, NC.
She was born in Goldsboro, NC on October 30, 1929, the daughter of William Leslie and Lucille Pitt Langston.
She attended Goldsboro City Schools where she was recognized as the Varsity Club Sweetheart, and graduated from the Brenau University where she served as the student body president her senior year.
Lew supported her husband in the development of the Village of Walnut Creek and was an entrepreneur herself as the owner and operator of The Country Shop and the Village Tea House in Goldsboro. Her smile was infectious, and she will be remembered for her kindness, strength, and incredible sense of humor.
She enjoyed interior design, playing bridge and loved the many opportunities to work with projects at her church and in her community. Lew also enjoyed growing and arranging flowers. Above all, she loved spending time with her family and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents and husband of 65 years, Conway Joel Rose.
She is survived by her children Lucy Rose (Mac Lumpkin), and their children Collier and Kate; and Tom Rose (Sandy Rose), and their children Nick, Matt, Tyler, and Jenna; and her sister, Jane Griffin. Lew is also survived by nieces and nephews Tom Griffin, Ginny Read, Molly Griffin, Sally Pope, Bill Langston, Molly Patrick Kelley, Terry Patrick Walton, Janet Conway Rose, Page Rose Pond, John Rose, and David Rose.
A memorial service for Lew will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, November 9, 2019 at St. Paul United Methodist Church with Rev. Phyllis Vail officiating. The family will greet friends following the service in the church parlor. A private interment will be held in Willow Dale Cemetery.
