Son of Thomas P Satterwhite and Sarah Blake Satterwhite.
He was a member of the South Carolina Provincial Congress in 1775 and was a member of the local Committee of Safety for the Ninety-Six District, SC. He was a Justice of the Peace and Sheriff of Newberry County.
He served as a scout and partisan soldier against the British during the Revolutionary War. He was in great danger because the Ninety-Six District was a Tory stronghold and he was related to the Davenports who were Tories.
