Norma graduated from Prague High School in May of 1963. She met James Scott on July 24, 1963 and they were married on September 28, 1963.
They made their home in Southard, OK and later moved into Canton, OK. James had a dream to work with the Native American People and they started their ministry 56 years ago. They were home missionaries to the Cheyenne and Arapaho people for 42 years. They started a church in Canton and was there for 4 years. They then served 42 years at Longdale Indian Mission Assembly of God.
Norma was a Cook, Asst. Director and the VOICE of the Longdale Kids Camp for 31 years. She worked on the farm with Jim, working cattle, building fences, and driving tractors for 40 years. She worked at the Canton Farm Supply, Erma’s SavMor, Okeene Hospital and Annex, Prices Grocery, and Duckwalls. Norma loved to be with family, friends, and church. She loved to cook and help others. She especially loved holding babies and kids. She loved our Native People so very much. She loved to have fun, laugh, be loud, and praise God for she had a heart of gold.
Wake services will be held at the Canton Native American Gymnasium. Funeral services will be held at the same venue. Interment will follow in Cherryvale Cemetery under the direction of Pierce Funeral Home, Canton. Memorials may be made to the Longdale Assembly of God Mission through the funeral home at P.O. Box 36, Canton, OK 73724.
