Amado Macias Gonzalez

Amado Macias Gonzalez, 78, died at his home in Ajo on October 16, 2019. He was born in Sonoyta, Sonora, Mexico, on September 13, 1941, to Viviano C. & Josefa Macias Gonzalez. They brought him to Ajo in 1945 and he grew up, attended school here, and called Ajo home for the rest of his life. He married Dorothy Farmer in Winterhaven, California, in 1962. A drillerys , he was last employed by Layne Corporation. Mr. Gonzalez was a member of the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church.

His family says he loved roaming the desert, reading western books - especially Louis L'Armour, spending time with friends and family, especially his great-grandson. He also liked to work with cars and garden. "He helped anyone in need," said his family. "He was a very loving and generous man. He will be dearly missed."

Mr. Gonzalez was preceded in death by his wife, Dorothy Gonzalez, who died December 8, 1991; by his parents; by his son Viviano Gonzalez; by his brother Francisco F. Gonzalez; and by his step-daughters, Linda Worsham and Kathy Pigeon. Burial was in the Ajo Cemetery next to his wife.
