Daniel L. Talley, Sr. born to George and Thelma Talley in Corpus Christi, Texas in 1947, died in his home in Vacaville, California on October 23, 2019 at the age of 72.

He is survived by his wife of 51 years, Barbara Talley, his son, Danny Talley, Jr. and his wife Gretchen and their sons, Braden and Silas; his sons (nephews) Chad Israelson of Vacaville, CA and Michael Todd Israelson of Roswell, NM and Todd’s children, Devin, Derek and Dawnielle Israelson and three great grandchildren, Kaydence, Cooper and Kennedy.

He was preceded in death by his daughter, Wendy Elizabeth Talley, his sister, Mary Beth Israelson who’s two sons he raised after a tragic accident in 1976. Dan’s parents George and Thelma Talley, his brothers, Raymond and Richard Talley and sisters, Patricia Short and Cathy Azevedo also preceded him in death.

He is mourned by his siblings, Regina Martinez of Napa, Janice Bowman of Oakley, Sally Carter of Oakley, Tim Talley of Oakley, and George Talley of Pittsburg, CA and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins in California, Alabama, Colorado, Louisianna and Texas.

At the age of 17 he joined the U.S. Naval Reserves receiving an Honorable Discharge when his father passed away because he was the oldest male living at home. He attended Diablo Valley College where he studied electronics and completed academics for the Police Academy. He worked as a peace officer for the City of Pinole for three years and later worked for Pacific Bell as a switchman in Walnut Creek.

In 1975 he moved his family from Martinez, California to Victoria, Texas. While living in Victoria, he worked in his Uncle Don Green’s cabinet shop where he learned cabinet making and carpentry. In Texas, he also attended the University of Texas and taught Electrical Trades at the High School. In 1979 his older brother Richard convinced him to move to Farmington, New Mexico so they could see more of one another. They both opened businesses in the same building where Dan formed Alphatronic Computers Systems and Richard formed Rich’s Video.

Dan was a man of deep faith in God and belonged to the Knights of Columbus, 4th Degree, while living in New Mexico. He attended the Deacon program in Gallup, New Mexico while living in Farmington and became a layman deacon in the Catholic church. After his youngest son, Danny was born in October of 1984, he moved the family back to California to be closer to the both of their immediate families.

After returning to California, Dan worked for his good friend Doug McArthur, owner of Maximum Security Alarms in Pinole, installing home and business alarm systems. After moving to Vacaville in 1990, Dan went to work for the City of Vacaville where he later retired after working as an IT Network Administrator & Project Manager. He continued to assist family and friends with their computer issues in retirement.

As a retiree, he spent most of his time with his cherished wife and grandchildren, family and friends. Dan will be remembered most by his sweet & passionate nature, good humor, his generosity, and his creative talent and ability to tackle any project with confidence. He amazed everyone with his many hobbies and projects throughout his lifetime.

A memorial service will be held honoring Dan’s Life on Wednesday, November 13, 2019 at 11:00 A.M. at St. Joseph Catholic Church, 1791 Marshall Road at Nut Tree Road., Vacaville, CA 95687 with lunch to follow at the Parish Center. In lieu of flowers, please donate to your favorite charity.
