Julia A. "Judy" Hawkins, 94, of Jefferson City, passed away peacefully on October 30, 2019, at St. Joseph's Bluffs Retirement Home. She was born May 24,1925, in Brumley, a daughter of Senator Charles R. (Ted) and Mabel (Foster) Hawkins.

Judy graduated from Brumley High School and attended Central Missouri State Teachers College and Southwest Missouri State University. She was employed in the State Constitutional Convention, Missouri State Senate, and Public Service Commission. She then accepted a position in Personnel in the State Department of Health, advancing to Director, Personnel and Training. She also served as a personal consultant to the Ellis Fischel State Cancer Hospital, State Chest Hospital, and local health departments throughout the state.

She was a member of the Missouri Public Health Association. After retiring, she served as Chairman of the State Personnel Advisory Board for several years.

Judy was a member of the Brumley Christian Church. After moving to Jefferson City, she attended the First Christian Church. She served on the Hawkins Cemetery Board and was an active volunteer for Meals on Wheels. Judy loved golf and was a charter member of Meadow Lake Acres Country Club.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her sisters: Mary E. Collins, Teddy J. Woods, Vivian Sue Hawkins; and two infant brothers.

She is survived by two nieces: Katherine Bauer and Suzanne Woods; a great-niece and great-nephew: Kelly England and Matthew Stuart; and a great-great-niece: Samantha Stuart. Judy left instructions that there be no visitation or funeral service, but wanted it known that she appreciated her relatives, friends and others who had a positive influence on her life.

A family graveside service will be held at the Hawkins Cemetery. Memorials are suggested to Meals on Wheels America. Arrangements are under the direction of HOUSER-MILLARD Funeral Directors, 2613 West Main Street, Jefferson City, MO 65109.
